he Department of Vocal Coaching at the Calvin Theological Seminary Graduate School of Choral Music aims to cultivate professional performers, collaborative pianists, and accomplished music educators. The curriculum is designed to integrate classical foundations with contemporary practical skills, enabling students to develop extensive repertoire knowledge, refined interpretive insight, and advanced performance capabilities.

정확한 악보 해독 능력과 청각적 분석 능력을 함양하기 위한 핵심 과목입니다.악보를 보며 정확히 읽고 노래하는 훈련(Sight Singing)과 들은 음악을 즉각적으로 인지·기보·변별하는 능력(Ear Training)을 계발하여 연주, 작곡, 지휘, 편곡의 기초 역량을 전반적으로 강화합니다.

This foundational course develops accurate score-reading skills and refined aural perception. Through systematic training in sight singing and listening-based analysis, students strengthen essential competencies that directly support performance, composition, conducting, and arranging, forming a comprehensive musical foundation.

화성의 구조와 진행 원리를 건반 위에서 직접 분석하고 적용하는 과목입니다.기초 화음에서 확장·대위적 진행에 이르기까지 실기 중심으로 학습하며, 곡 분석 능력, 작·편곡 능력, 자연스러운 코드 연결 및 반주 능력을 체계적으로 발전시킵니다.

Students study the structure and progression of harmony through hands-on application at the keyboard. Emphasis is placed on practical harmonic fluency, including chord construction, voice-leading, and harmonic analysis. This training enhances analytical skills, composition and arranging abilities, and natural, practical accompaniment techniques.

성악 및 기악 반주에 필요한 핵심 원리, 실제적 기술, 효과적인 연습법을 실용적으로 훈련합니다.

After completing the Piano major courses in the 1st and 2nd semesters, students who choose the Accompaniment specialization in the 3rd and 4th semesters will undertake the Accompaniment Techniques 2 and 3 courses. This program provides comprehensive instruction in interpreting repertoire required for vocal and chamber music accompaniment, focusing on the organic use of the body, the interplay between language and musicality, and artistic expressiveness, ultimately training students to become professional accompanists.

이 과목은 서양 음악사의 주요 흐름을 따라 주요한 음악 작품들을 감상하여 시대별 음악작품의 역사적 배경, 스타일, 작곡가의 특성 등을 이해하고 연주 관습을 탐구하는 과목입니다. 이를 통해 성악 연주와 해석의 역사적 기반을 확립하고, 전문 성악 코치로서 폭넓은 레퍼토리를 연구·축적하는 데 목표를 둡니다.

This course provides an in-depth study of Western music history, focusing on the historical context, stylistic developments, composers' characteristics, and performance practices of piano literature from each period. Students build a solid historical foundation for interpretation and expand their repertoire knowledge as developing professional performers.

이탈리아어, 영어, 독일어, 프랑스어 등 주요 성악 언어의 발음·악센트·연음 규칙을 체계적으로 훈련합니다. 정확한 발성과 언어 표현을 통해 곡의 해석을 더욱 아름답고 설득력 있게 전달하기 위한 Diction Technique를 익힙니다.

This course provides systematic training in Italian, English, German, and French diction. Students study accurate pronunciation, accentuation, and liaison to master refined diction techniques, enabling expressive and stylistically appropriate performances of foreign-language repertoire.

1~2학기 피아노 전공 과목을 이수한 후에 3~4 학기 보칼 코치 전공 과정을 선택한 학생들에게 두 학기동안 Vocal Coach 레슨 1~2가 실시됩니다. 이 과정을 통해서 교육을 넘어, 목소리라는 악기를 정교하게 조율하는 과정입니다.발성 기술, 곡 해석, 신체의 유기적 활용, 언어와 음악성, 예술적 표현력 등을 종합적으로 지도하여 피아노 역량과 성악적 역량이 융합된 전문적 보칼 코치로 훈련시키는 수업입니다.

대학원 과정의 학업과 실기 성취를 종합하여 독자적 예술가로 나아가는 최종 단계입니다.졸업 렉처리사이틀은 세 시기(Three Periods), 세 작곡가(Three Composers)로 구성된 약 프로그램을 학생 스스로 기획·준비한 후 1시간 분량의 렉처리사이틀을 통해 음악코치로서의 음악적 정체성과 예술성을 완성도 있게 보여주는 중요한 과정입니다.

This is the final stage of the graduate program, integrating academic achievements and practical skills to prepare students as independent artists. The graduation lecture recital consists of a program planned and prepared by the students themselves, featuring three periods and three composers. Through a one-hour lecture recital, this important process effectively showcases the students' musical identity and artistry as music coaches.
